Llovely Llady Llamas & Crias!

                                               Why Llamas?

We purchased our first llama, Molly, as a companion for our Arabian Horse, Romey. We didn’t know anything about llamas; but, were soon completely bewitched. Over the years, we observed a close friendship developing between Romey and Molly. Yet, whenever Romey was taken out to ride, neither he nor Molly were herd-bound. After years of observation, we’ve concluded that llamas make perfect horse-companions. There is no competition for herd hierarchy-so no kicking/biting and fighting!  Llamas are fantastic companions for stallions, who are usually isolated from other horses, and for foals during weaning. Llamas are good for people too! Their “Zen” gentleness has a calming affect. After a tough day at work, nothing is more soothing then a llama visit… Llamas are versatile!  From carrying backpacks for hikers, to visiting patients in hospitals, llamas can be trained and will perform a variety of tasks. Llamas have wonderful wool, which is sheared yearly. This valuable wool is spun into yarn for weaving and knitting. Llamas are low maintenance-they require little fuss and are easy keepers-five llamas thrive on an acre of pasture. Llamas are affordable. Their food is inexpensive too. They load easily into trailers—and even mini vans or hatchbacks! There are llama shows, where llamas compete in halter, wool quality and performance classes. Llamas are gentle and make great family pets-but beware, they are addictive-once you meet a llama, you’ll lose your heart and end up with your own herd!

Molly is our first llama. We originally purchased her as a pasture-mate for our Arabian gelding, Romey. They have shared a pasture together since 2001 and are best friends.  Since then we fell in love with llamas.  Molly is a gentle soul, who loves playing with our dog Boomer. Her wool is used in my art. Molly is bred to "Sarmiento's Steal Your Heart" for a May 2007 cria!

On May 16th, at 12 noon, Molly-Moo gave birth to a big, beautiful male cria!  He was determined to begin life quickly and was standing in under 20 minutes!  He's got an incredible personality-comes running to see us-needless to say we adore him!  AND what fantastic wool-long and crimpy already!  Molly is a terrific mom too!  We named him EquiSea's Captain Jack Sparrow, After the famous pirate in The Pirates of the Caribbean movies!  More photos below!

Nichole is Molly’s mom.  She’s a wonderful girl and a fantastic mother.  Her show winning crias are strong and beautiful, with gentle personalities. Nichole often shares a pasture with our Arabian mares.  We are patiently awaiting Nichole’s cria, by MFL Windigo’s Special K, due May 2007.

On May 5th 2007, just after lunch, Nichole gave birth to a beautiful and healthy female cria!  She came into the world humming and was standing in under a half hour!  Nichole is a wonderful mom and our herdsire Loop couldn't be prouder!  We've named her EquiSea's Galadriel, after the beautiful Elf queen in Tolkien's book The Lord of the Rings.  More photos below!
